I'm building a house. I'm going to love building this house. Even though I've seen lots of people go through lots of feelings that could not be called love while building a house. We'll see.

There has already been tons of planning. The house is designed (Demetri and Jason, thank you), the land has been purchased, partially cleared and the road built. It is beautiful, by the way -- views of the Adirondack mountains and a little sliver view of Mad River Glen, a lovely meadow, and cross-country ski area passing through. Wow.

And the builder is ready to start!!!

But. I just spent a couple days with a fabulous group of people, including many architects. And we're making changes already. We're going to see if this house can be built as a 'passive house'. In other words, in Vermont with no active heating system. After being overwhelmed by the enormity of this change, I'm totally psyched to do it. So today I start my research and Demetri and Jason start doing the modeling of the house with Laura, the guru.
